Family Planning 2

Hey there! I hope your year is going well? Mine went from being on a roll to a sudden dip but I am fighting off the remnants of the fog that came with things not working my way for a bit.😊
So let’s get straight to it,shall we?
I decided like I said in the first part of this post to adopt the copper intra uterine device ,it is non- hormonal and does not interfere unduly with the menstrual cycleor body system.
I have worn the copper IUD for about 5 years now.
The process is really quite straight forward. I went to my hospital of choice and I was required to run a pregnancy test to ensure there was no bun in the oven. That done,I laid the same way you would when getting a pap smear or having a gynae to examine you and in less than 5 minutes,it was a done deal. There was no pain,a little discomfort.

Thereafter, the nurse required that I wash my hands thoroughly with an antiseptic soap and asked me put in whatever finger felt comfortable to feel around for the rope hanging into my vaginal

Family Planning; To do or not to do😅

Hey there!

Today is the beginning of a new school term. Yay!

It is usually a bitter sweet feeling for me. Sweet because the kids will be in school and I will get to concentrate on work fully.

Bitter because I have to wake up early enough so as to be able to cook and get the kids ready for school. 😏I am sure you can tell already I am not a morning person. So what to do? I suck it up and put on my game face!

A few days back I had a conversation with a friend that revolved around family, kids and family planning. She asked me if really was done having kids and when I said “Yes,I believe so.”  She then said she had assumed I was dealing with secondary infertility.I said no,this wasn’t the case.

We got talking and  family planning methods came up;she had been using condoms with her husband and she didn’t particularly like them. This prompted the discussion on what is ‘safe’ for family planning as she wanted to know my experience with my method.

I decided to write about this because I realized that quite a number of women do not really research or ask the necessary question as to what method of family planning is safe or ideal for them.Since I am not a healthcare personnel

What is your plan for the year 2020?

It is is a brand new year! Today is the 8th day of the new year, how is your year going?

We have celebrated the birth of Christ at Christmas,we have celebrated the new year, we ate jollof rice, chicken, goat meat, chin chin ,cake, wine and the whole works. So what next? Some of us have posted on habits to stop in 2020,some have posted “A new year,a new me”😁

However,no matter how we wish each other a happy new year no matter how hard we pray that it will be a prosperous year that will bring us all the money and everything we have ever wished for. If we fail to plan and set goals for the year,we may be planning to just watch the year gallop by as we wait for another December 31st to say another “Happy New Year” again.

I am a bible believing Christian and I believe that every thing we need to live our lives in the best way possible can be found in the bible. You don’t believe me?

Random Memories

Happy New Year folks!😁I wish you a year that delivers to you all that you have ever hoped or prayed for by God’s grace. May the year 2020 be a fulfilling one for us all.

I don’t know how many posts I put up in the year 2019 but whatever the number,I intend to do much better this year. I will make a conscious effort to do at least one post per week. This time,I will not say so help me God,instead ,I will rely on my sense of duty and try to be more consistent on here.😊

The other day, I saw a post on FB talking about dogbites

Conversations That Make Me Squirm

It is a rather quiet Sunday night.I am lying on my bed and my mind is just roaming. The kids are not home and Ogbeni Michael is in the living room waiting to watching the news🙄. I am tired of the news these days, mostly depressing news. So instead of watching the news,I came in to find something to read. I have been reading a book on Spontaneous Healing for over a year🙈. Don’t bother wondering why. Even me I can’t explain it.

Anyway,I digress. To what is really on my mind. I have always considered myself a ‘matter of fact’ kind of person who can have the most difficult conversations without flinching or showing any outward signs of unease. That was till I met my kids😃Lord! Those two can ask the most difficult and sometimes embarassing questions😀😀😀.
I remember once when Nicole was 6years old,her brother was about 2 years then, she came to me and asked me that did I say boys have penises and girls have vaginas? I winced as I was at this point just getting used to talks of vaginas and penises with a child🙈I said yes. She then asked again, all boys and all girls?I said yes again. She paused for a little while and said so daddy also has a penis?

Train Up That Child

I have been MIA for a while!😔I need to change! But over the past month, I have had cause to think about what proper upbringing entails . I am thankful for my parents and the family I was born into. I am finding everyday that my parents did a great job with us, they were not perfect, no, but they did great.
Just last week, in a whatsapp group I belong to, we were discussing the way some teenagers and young adults a these days behave within and outside their homes and it leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of the group members shared their experiences of family members or relatives that have stayed with them for one reason or the other and how much entitlement, laziness, ill manners and even bad attitude they had to put up with before eventually finding a way to either get the people out of their houses or the relationship completely deteriorated.

I am all for bringing up intelligent, self confident and independent kids and helping them to be the best they can be. However, remember that it is not enough to just be brilliant and not learn to relate with people or interact with others regardless of sex, race , religion, age and so on. Human beings are social animals

That Raggedy, Old Tshirt

It has been some kind of day😑 It was not really a bad day,it was just a ‘bleh’ kind of day. Hope you had a good day?😀

So,today,I want to talk about something that happened to me some days ago. I had been piling up my night shirts for some days;yea! I am a night shirt kinda girl😀 It is comfortable,it is easy to throw off,it can ride as high as you want it to 🙈and it is usually cotton. Cotton is my favourite kind of fabric for many reasons. Oops!🙊I digress.

I was saying,I had my night tees piled up and on a weekday after the kids had left for school and Ogbeni Michael for work,I decided to throw them in the washing machine before I get on to my work for the day,(remember ,I currently run a home office😊). I threw in everything and started washing.

I had recently gotten 3 beautiful, new night shirts and they were in the WM alongside the others, imagine my shock when i opened the machine and realized that my nightshirts were all now like campala,a vivid red colour had run all over my

Dear Shima,

I remember how we met,it was in a BBM group called Mom’s Connect. It was 2012/2013. It was a small group of about 15 women, all moms, some single, some married😀 We all had something in common, our kids.
I knew some of the members of the group, others,I didn’t know, you were one of those others.
One day,we were chatting in the group and somehow, you discovered your older sister lived just a street away from my house and so you said,”I’ll call you one of these days so we can actually meet in real life”.
That was the beginning of a friendship I didn’t even realize I valued deeply, you were older, wiser and strong with a touch of crazy😊.
We chatted often,we saw when we could. We always had something to talk about and you were so easy to be friends with.
You loved your son Terna deeply and he was everything to you. That morning in November when I was just logging my round and pregnant tummy out of the bathroom,I saw you had called me twice,I immediately called back, you sounded as calm as usual, “babe,Terna was hit by a car,I dey General hospital,I need a pair of bathroom slippers,I need you as soon as you can come” I didn’t ask anything,I just responded that I was on my way. We lost him and that was one of the worst days of my life… You were broken,at Gudu cemetery, despite your pain, you kept asking me if I was okay…
A part of you died with Terna but like the trooper you were, you kept going, you tried to live everyday as it came.
We always just clicked and we sometimes won’t see for up to 6 months even though we were in the same town but we just always pick up right where we stopped.

I remember the last time we hung out,it was last year, you sat across from me at my then office and sipped from your cup, coffee, juice? I didn’t ask. I remember you saying we should go down to shoprite to get a sandwich, and I laughed and reminded you that I gave up bread ages ago and in your usual manner, you asked if I didn’t want you to eat for two😊 We laughed a lot and you were talking about Ireland.

Then we kept planning to go out one of these evenings to eat fish and hang out,in December of 2018,you were in Makurdi with Queen mother. We kept chatting and planning to hang out,who knew life had something else planned?😢

I have read over our chats,I could not help laughing out at some and being really sad at others. We talked, you kept saying you were good,it was bad but you were out of the woods.😥😥I shouldn’t have believed you!

Then that evening you reached out saying we should pray at midnight,we did and I continued nights after, on my birthday, you reached out with birthday messages. Then throughout that week,I kept calling,it was either you were not reachable or we could barely hear each other, at other times, you didn’t pick.

However, that Friday morning,I woke up with the pressing need to talk to you,I called as early as I thought you would be awake,it was some minutes to 8. You said

Even Too Much of a good Thing can be Bad😎

I can’t believe it has been over a year I wrote about my weight loss journey. I took a decision to take control of my weight as well as take better care of my body,I ditched junk food completely, increased my water intake and ate only foods I was sure was good for my body! 😊

In total,I lost a total of about 40kg and boy oh boy,was I amazed or what? My weight loss was gradual and a lot of people didn’t even notice till much later😀. My skin tone became a bit lighter,I looked much better and I felt better too.
Over the past year,I put back on some weight 😢😢Specifically 9 kilograms,it all started when I felt at some point that I looked too
