Family Planning 3
It has been a little while. I have been struggling a little with writing and getting things done. The larger part of January and last month, I feel like I have been functioning at 20 percent .
This month of March seems better though,I think I upped it to about 45 percent. I can’t really explain it,I am not sad,not excited, sort of just there. I am however getting over it and getting back to my default setting which is to give each day my 100 percent.😊
So,about that family planning method. Like I was saying, for the first one year of having the IUD inserted,I suffered, huge, painful boils. I would have 2 to 3 and even 4 at a time. I was prescribed antibiotics which I took religiously. I tried different home remedies too.
The boils kept coming,I read up on copper IUD and read somewhere that it is possible to be allergic to copper. I had no way of knowing if this was the case. As I was about giving up and going to take it out,I decided to start praying about it and just like that, it stopped. Interesting, yea?
Although the IUD did not interfere unduly with my menstrual cycle,it did change my flow. I used to have light periods that lasted 4 days. It went from that to 5 to 7 days of heavy flow. Where I previously used 1 and a half packs of sanitary pads,I went to using 3 to 4 packs for heavy months,I would need to change every 3 to 4 hours in order not to get my clothes messed up.
This sort of regularized after a while. I still had really heavy flow but it was no longer alarming as I spoke to a doctor who assured me it was normal to have heavier flows with an IUD.
These were the major changes my body had to adjust to,however, the advantages for me far outweighed these changes. For one,sex became far more enjoyable, there is something about not having to worry about pregnancy and if you were safe or not. Oh! The freedom of ‘indiscriminate sex😃. I am not calculating safe days or worrying unduly.
Before I had the IUD inserted,I used to have to make a mental not of my dates of ovulation and all of that,it can be tiring. The IUD rope is not something that bothers you. Mike did not feel it. I only felt it when my period was especially heavy and all I had to do was tuck it back.🙂
I have heard some women complain about IUDs giving them yeast infections. All through the 5+ years I had mine,I never got any yeast infection till January this year and I do not believe it had anything to do with my IUD. I believe my immunity was just low.
I had to take out the IUD a few weeks back on the advice of my doctor and also because the rope cut. (Yes! This can happen too) I will replace it but not immediately, thus,I am back to other methods of protection, worrying unduly and no,I can no longer just be ‘gbenshing’ like a rabbit🤣. It is a bummer actually but I don’t have much of a choice now.😁
P.S
I had written this post some days back but it disappeared🙄
I spoke with Seb (my web developer)and he gave me some helpful tips.
I hope they work for me and I’ll be able to post more often now.
