My 36 hours Fluid Fast

Hey there!

How are you doing?

I have always had a really slow metabolic rate. This means that my food does not digest quickly and it sometimes translates to my system being some type of way sometimes.

I sometimes find it difficult to poop on the daily and sometimes I strain so much that I get to have pain in my anus and even a cut in extreme cases.
As a result of this, many years back when I began my weightloss and healthier lifestyle journey,I began to consciously incorporate more fiber rich foods into my diet. The more I researched and experimented with more wholesome foods packed with fiber and nutrients, the better my system became.

Another thing I also did was to up my water intake to at least 3 litres per day. I have never regretted doing any of these things. Then I sort of relaxed and became a bit lax with my diet. This took its toll on my digestive system.

Thus,in the last 2 months. I was constantly battling with heartburn and constipation. A few weeks ago,a facebook friend invited me to join her group on FB. I had seen her talk about the 36hour fluid fast on her timeline but I never paid it too much attention.

However, last week,I had a particularly bad episode of constipation and I got heartburn with almost everything so I decided I was going to read up a little on fluid fasts. I have done fruits’ fast, green smoothies fast and even the Daniel’s fast. 36 hours water and fluid fast was new territory .

The group admin did videos and made posts to aid members. However like every other thing I do,I did my own research to find the benefits and also disadvantages, the best methods, ideas of what to take and all of that.

So last week Sunday,I proceeded on the fast starting at 11pm. I went to bed at about 1.00am so I didn’t feel it too much. I really struggled with drinking water the first 15hours,hunger was not a problem at that time till about 18 to 24hours in,I felt the first pangs of hunger and a dull headache that stayed consistent.

By Tuesday morning when I woke up,I was about 32hours in,I was extremely hungry,I felt weak but I continued to drink warm honey flavoured water. I took green tea and honey, hot water and warm water through the 36 hours because that was what I had to go with. I don’t think I prepared well enough as I just returned from a journey a day to the fast.

Generally,I would say the fast really did help me. First thing it did for me is it broke my addiction to cold water. I have been addicted to really cold and sometimes frozen water for a very long time. I have never been one to take lukewarm water or room temperature water. It has been a week now I took cold water and I do not feel the desire to😁

If cold water was the only thing it helped me with it would have been great. It did more, my system seems to have reverted to when my eating habits were mostly healthy and without processed food of any kind. Emptying my bowels is now quite easy. Plus I am gradually working my way back to eating healthy again.

When the fast was over,I was a bit scared to eat,I took millet pap and a little honey and continued to drink warm water through the day. Later in the evening,I had okro soup peppersoup with chicken and I was good for the day.

Today,I set out on my second 36hour water/fluid fast this evening. This time,I think I am better prepared. I prepared my fruit infused water. This is just water that is put in a jar or bowl with cut up fruits and herbs. You don’t eat the fruits but you get the nutrients in the fruits and the herbs.

For my fruit infused water,I used cucumbers, ginger, apples, pineapple and oranges. I took some this evening,it is not fully infused yet but it is actually nice. I will also be having ginger and cinnamon tea, sweetened with a little honey as well as green tea.

Being healthy is important to me. I am trying to lose some weight too, however nothing beats your digestive system functioning at optimal capacity. I have not had any episodes of heartburn or constipation this week. I plan to do the 36hours fluid fast every week of August and see how it goes.

The fast was great for me for detoxifying and clearing out my digestive system. As much as I want to lose weight and stay at a healthy weight.,it is not a quick fix to weightloss or anything like that. Quick fixes are not really my thing.

Precaution:

While I am glad I did this fast and think it was of benefit to me,I would say this:
If you have any underlying conditions like low or high blood sugar, you are on any medication or generally have health problems,I would strongly advise you do not indulge in any kind of fast or go on any random diets without speaking to your doctor or dietician first.

From me to you,it is all love❤
